Nursing Home Costs Only Slightly Higher this Year

Disability/Medical FeesThe median cost of a private nursing home room in the U.S. is only slightly higher this year.

A survey showed the cost in 2016 is $92,378 — an increase of just 1.24 percent.

The median cost of a semi-private room is $82,125, up 2.27 percent over 2015, the survey showed.

In 2015, the rates jumped 4.2 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively, over 2014.

The price hike was even lower for assisted living facilities. The median rate jumped .78 percent, to $3,628 per month.

The median cost of a home health aide stayed at $20 per hour this year.
